I placed a piece of cardboard on the very top before placing the cover over it. This was to make the top comfortable for my cats. Wow I love this garment rack! I had to vacate my son's closet so this was my solution. It was easy to assemble and it holds a lot of tops. I probably have at least 75 or more.
