Take off the shift knob, upper boot, unscrew the shift handle, then remove the lower boot and then dig out the foam around the factory shifter. I believe you want the shifter in neutral. Unscrew the 4 torx screws and pull the factory shifter out. Install the B&M Shifter. If you cut off the bottom "flange" part of the new foam you may be able to work it around the B&M shifter without breaking it. I’m still thinking it was a good purchase. There is a bit of a learning curve to using it at first, but you get used to the added resistance fast. When it’s new, it’s stiff and you have to use a little force, but after a few months, it wears in a bit and gets pretty smooth. It has cleaned up my issues with getting into reverse for sure. I cheated when I installed it and didn’t install the foam donut, so that saved me from not having to drop the gas tank and mess with the trans mounts. I did everything from instead the Jeep. I may get motivated one day and install the donut. We’ll see. Probably not. Once you pull the shift knobs off and the center console out of the jeep, it’s four star screws, maybe a 20 minute job. Value for money? I mean, it’s expensive for sure. Yes, I’m glad I bought it once. Appearance?
