## Customer Reviews

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

A very comprehensive survey of the aircraft

A very interesting and readable account of the Shackleton and its long and varied career. I'm not an expert, just an interested general reader, and I found it not too technical for the most part. As usual with the Haynes manuals, the cutaway drawings and the photos were excellent.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

An excellent book commemorating an excellent aircraft.

Once again Keith Wilson has compiled and written an excellent aircraft book. The Shackleton was a majestic aircraft that served the RAF well in many guises over many years, this book does it full justice. The photographs used are both explanatory and illustrative, the writing clear and educative without being in any way too technical. The book is split into several sections that cover development, history of deployment, technical anatomy, operational matters and maintenance. Eye witness accounts are used to enhance the explanative writing adding another dimension to the readers understanding of all aspects of the aircraft. The whereabouts and condition of all the surviving airframes are documented including the efforts to get WR963 back into the air again. Of particular interest to myself was the Shackleton production list in Appendix 3. I used to watch these beautiful aircraft flying on missions when I lived in Singapore in the 1950's and particularly remember the keen loss felt amongst many on the island when VP254 disappeared into the South China Sea. Overall I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

A very good book on what was a very good maratime patrol aircraft that gave years of service.

Due to having helped provide these aircraft with training facilities out at sea, as I was a crewman aboard various types of RAF Marine Craft, until they were replaced by the Nimrod's, who we then worked with, it is nice to see the development of these aircraft, seeing as like many of our crews we never actually got the chance to even go and get on one for a look at the inside of the Griffon powered aircraft, which some of our faster launches were also powered by. If only there could have been an audio version of this book it would have brought back the familiar sounds that the Shackleton gave as its four engines, developed during WWII for Spitfires, flew over our craft out at sea.
