A: Hi The G stands for Global meaning that the compass can be used in the northern and southern hemisphere. D stands for Declination adjustment and the L is for Luminosity markings for reading in low light areas. Hope this helps

**Q: Stupid question -but where is the direction of travel arrow?**
A: Hi it’s not really an arrow,there is a red triangle near the lanyard hole, with the compass open you set your bearing (with declination)  and look up the line made up of the triangle and all the luminous marks one above triangle one on hinge one at top of mirror  and follow the line

**Q: Is this the global compass model?**
A: Yes, the model has adjustable declination so it can be adjusted depending location.

**Q: How does the global version comparer to the nh one? what exactly are the pros and cons? or are there no cons? is global just "better"?**
A: It's all to do with how the compas needle is balanced Google it as it is common to ALL makes of compas. If you are only going to be navigating in the Northern hemisphere then buy the nh one if you only navigate in the southern hemisphere buy the sh one. If you are navigating all over the world buy the Global one.
