Also so they wouldn't get dusty and could last for years. I like that the case mentions the length and width, so I could make sure it would fit on my monitor stand perfect. You do have to be very careful if you move it to avoid scratches. My only complaint is the tiers/stairs because they are a little wobbly. But once you have it still it's not noticable.Edit: first photo is the four tier and second is the three tier cases. Got a new desk hutch and they can stack up there. I guess I was lucky that the item arrived without any big damage except a scratch on one of the side clear panels. The packaging is quite humble; it doesn't even come in a box, but the edges are padded. Every piece of the case is lined with plastic film that has to be removed. The assembly is not too difficult. Once put together the case looks very nice. It's smartly designed and quite a good bargain for the price.The only annoying thing during the assembly was the amount of manufacturing dust attached to all the pieces.
