I've plugged it into my laptop but all it does is charge, I cannot get it to pair----- issue resolved** A: It communicates via the dongle. I just plugged the dongle into a USB slot and switched on the mouse and it was recognised instantly. If it doesn't work it's the wrong dongle for the mouse. It has a bit of difficulty on rough surfaces but works perfectly on any smooth surface.I can't say anything about the battery life yet as I've just got it but it is silent, so silent and smooth in fact, you can barely tell when you've actually pressed a button.The only design flaw it may have it's that it doesn't have a divider between the battery indicator led and the optical red laser which when you actually use the mouse you can't really tell if the red light it's from the battery low indicator or the optics.
