As a straight espresso shot they are bitter. I tried using different ratios with the Borbone pods and found them not nearly as good as a straight shot of espresso from the Illy branded ESE pods. For reference I’m using the La Piccola, Piccola ESE machine. **Q: How far out of an expiration date can we expect?** A: I have been ordering the pods for years both DEK and regular. We consume one 150 box in 4-6 weeks. In that time DEK has varied from one month to three expiration. Whereas regular had more time.
