I do wear pierced earrings. Pierced ears for many years. I occasionally use Savlon if there is any sign of redness, or a bit sore, sometimes even smearing a small dot on the actual hook of the earring before I insert through the hole in the ear lobe. I always wear sterling silver through the pierced hole. Silver is known to have antibacterial properties. In my own experience the professional undertaking the piercing procedure gives routine advice for aftercare which should be followed.
