Washable inks (e.g. Parker "washable blue" Quink) can be washed out of clothing, whereas "permanent" inks generally cannot and will stain clothes. Neither are waterproof. Generally speaking, the properties that make an ink waterproof make it unsuitable for use in fountain pens. When people wrote with dip nibs and quills Indian ink was more common and that IS waterproof, but it will wreck a fountain pen. Indian ink uses shellac or gum arabic as a binder and this will clog the feed on a fountain pen but won't hurt a dip pen. If you want to use truly permanent ink for writing, you need to buy a pen and dip nibs, or make a quill. **Q: Is the ink thick?** A: No. Very thin. I was disappointed **Q: Can this be used for dip pens?** A: Fountain pen ink works fine with dip nibs. My preference is to write with a dip pen (really, it is) and I use Parker Quink with it on a daily basis. If anything, it's better than "calligraphy" ink since it's a lot easier to clean the nib when you're finished - just a wipe does it. **Q: Does this ink bleed when a water wash is applied over it??** A: It does. I accidentally sneezed near a piece I had recently finished, which was dry. It was ruined. ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Lovely ink colour lasts for years without loosing quality *by on Reviewed in the United Kingdom 7 April 2026* I have used Parker Quink for years. The quality is consistent from start to end. I don't get any changes in the liquid, I don't need to add water because of clogging, there is no clogging at all. The drying time is reasonable. The only issue is that I don't think it is water proof, but I don't need it to be. It works with all of my ink pens. Easy to use and lovely black colour. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Good value for money. *by on Reviewed in the United Kingdom 11 June 2026* It's getting more difficult nowadays to find bottled ink in the shops. This ink does as it always has done. Excellent quality at a decent price. Bottle size is ample. Works wonderfully in my expensive Caran D'Ache fountain pen. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great ink works well *by on Reviewed in the United Kingdom 16 August 2026* Great ink. Works well with fountain pens and with brushes ## Frequently Bought Together - Parker Fountain Pen Ink Bottle | Washable Blue QUINK Ink | 57 ml Fountain Pen Refill - Parker Fountain Pen Ink Bottle, Black QUINK Ink, 57 ml Fountain Pen Refill - PARKER Fountain Pen Converter, Standard Twist Fill (S0050300) --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - 🛒 **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** — Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** — Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - 💰 **No Hidden Fees** — All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - 🔄 **15-Day Free Returns** — Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - 🔒 **Secure Payments** — Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** — Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.co.za/products/49304703-fountain-pen-ink-bottle-washable-blue-quink-ink-57-ml](https://www.desertcart.co.za/products/49304703-fountain-pen-ink-bottle-washable-blue-quink-ink-57-ml) --- *Product available on Desertcart South Africa* *Store origin: ZA* *Last updated: 2026-10-20*
