If you would like a varnish that is appropriate for the outside of candle vessels we recommend you use our candle varnish. **Q: Does this work on polymer clay?** A: Yes - this can be used to also varnish polymer clay. **Q: Does this give a genuinely matte finish? Is there any sheen at all?** A: I found it gave a very matte finish on air dry clay. The only criticism I would mention is that it darkens or intensifies the original colour. It does seem to waterproof air dry clay which is why I bought it. ## Frequently Bought Together - Sculpd Clear Varnish for Air Dry Clay Pottery, Gloss Finish Clear Varnish for Pottery and Acrylic Paint, Create Waterproof Pottery from Home, Colourless Scratch Resistant Varnish, 70ml - Crayola Air Dry Clay (5lbs), Natural White Modeling Clay for Kids, Sculpting Material, Bulk Craft Supplies for School Classrooms - Amrules Clay Tools Kit, 27 PCS Pottery Tools, Practical Polymer Clay Sculpting Tools Kit, Air Dry Clay Tools Set for Adults, Pottery Craft, Dotting, Carving, Drawing, Molding, Modeling, Shaping --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - 🛒 **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** — Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** — Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - 💰 **No Hidden Fees** — All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - 🔄 **15-Day Free Returns** — Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - 🔒 **Secure Payments** — Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** — Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.co.za/products/491856859-air-dry-clay-glaze-waterproof-scratch-resistant-gloss-varnish-70ml](https://www.desertcart.co.za/products/491856859-air-dry-clay-glaze-waterproof-scratch-resistant-gloss-varnish-70ml) --- *Product available on Desertcart South Africa* *Store origin: ZA* *Last updated: 2026-10-02*
