The best scenario is to have your dog on all four legs (not sitting) and then slide the paw boss to each paw (tap the paw to teach them that you want it raise it). You then insert the paw and gently move the paw around over the soft bristle pad to help accelerate the removal of the dirt. The nice part about the paw boss is that its not invasive (nothing restricting the paw as it goes in and out) and you can use fresh clean soapy water for every paw which makes this hygenically a great solution.
