I am wondering if it is mounted on a hard backing.** A: The material is able to be cut into different shapes after it is carved and is not already mounted on a hard backing. The whole material is flexible. Hope that helps. **Q: I'm interested in using a laser cutter with this material--is it compatible with most laser cutters?** A: I bought this at a hobby shop tried it on the laser at a makerspace not knowing it was made of PVC. The laser cut into it and I had it go two passes, but it also charred the surface making it black. I had to stop because it was flaring up and smelled weird. I really wish the fact it is made of PVC was written clearly on the product. Scary to think I was exposed to chlorine gas!!! **Q: is this product mounted or unmounted?** A: This product is unmounted. It is rubber like material and is thick enough that it generally is not mounted. **Q: How thick is the rubber material exactly?** A: It is 1/4" thick. ## Frequently Bought Together - Speedball Speedy-Carve Block Printing Carving Block, Rectangle, Pink, 6 X 12 Inches (15.24cm X 30.48cm) - Speedball Baren, 4" Diameter Block Printing Baren - Essdee Premium Quality Block Printing Ink (Pack of 5 Primary Colours),19 x 18 x 4 cm --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - 🛒 **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** — Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** — Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - 💰 **No Hidden Fees** — All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - 🔄 **15-Day Free Returns** — Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - 🔒 **Secure Payments** — Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** — Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.co.za/products/48872690-speedball-speedy-carve-block-printing-carving-block-rectangle-pink-6](https://www.desertcart.co.za/products/48872690-speedball-speedy-carve-block-printing-carving-block-rectangle-pink-6) --- *Product available on Desertcart South Africa* *Store origin: ZA* *Last updated: 2026-10-13*
