You can then decide whether your plant needs watering based on the measurement. Do not leave this moisture meter in the soil for more than 5 minutes, as the metal tip will gradually corrode. - Less Damage: A single probe causes less damage to plant roots compared to double or multiple probes, and when you remove the probe after testing, it won't bring out much soil. - Usage Precautions: Do not use it to test very hard soil. Do not test water or other liquids. After testing, please wipe the probe clean. ## Technical Specifications | Specification | Value | |---------------|-------| | ASIN | B014MJ8J2U | | Best Sellers Rank | 274 in Garden ( See Top 100 in Garden ) 1 in Soil Meters | | Brand | XLUX | | Colour | 26CM-Green | | Country Of Origin | China | | Customer Reviews | 4.3 out of 5 stars 68,713 Reviews | | Global Trade Identification Number | 00746827951865 | | Item Dimensions W x H | 6W x 26H centimetres | | Item Highlight | instant read, anti-rust 304 SST probe, Clear & Easy-to-Read Display, Single-Probe, less hurts to roots | | Manufacturer | BATOU | | Manufacturer Part Number | 746827951865 | | Model Number | T10 | | Mounting Type | Freestanding | | Mounting type | Freestanding | | Number of Items | 1 | | Operating Humidity | 1-10% | | Operating humidity | 1-10% | | Product dimensions | 6W x 26H centimetres | | Temperature Accuracy | 1.5 | | Temperature Reading Accuracy | plus_minus_1_point_5_degrees_celsius | | UPC | 746827951865 | | Upper Temperature Rating | 45 Degrees Celsius | | Upper temperature rating | 45 Degrees Celsius | ## Product Details - **Brand:** XLUX - **Colour:** 26CM-Green - **Mounting type:** Freestanding - **Operating humidity:** 1-10% - **Product dimensions:** 6W x 26H centimetres ## Images ![XLUX Plant Soil Moisture Meter, for indoor and outdoor use, Battery-Free - Image 1](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/71cT4iGyAiL.jpg) ## Available Options This product comes in different **Color, Number Of Items** options. ## Questions & Answers **Q: Can this be left permanently in the soil?** A: No dont do that. As the probe needs cleaned every time its used .. i use a micro fibre cloth thats old and rough and that removes any thing thats left on the probe 😁 **Q: Hello, there are a bunch of plants missing from the list, e.g. anthurium. How do you deal with that?!** A: I use the soil moisture meter on all plants, works fine. **Q: Does this work on orchids growing in bark?** A: i wouldn't think so, as the bark holds the moisture and you can't dip into a piece of bark as you would soil. (Only my opinion and I may well be wrong!) **Q: Would this work for my outside roses in tubs** A: Works anywhere if you use it as a portable tester and just poke it in the soil. I would not consider leaving it in place outside though as the meter end does not look to be weather proof. I have also found that leaving these in place results in the probe end corroding away and rendering the meter useless. ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Prevents Overwatering *by J***W on 15 June 2026* This soil moisture meter removes the guesswork out of plant-care. The product is rather big and clunky so in smaller plants its probably.not ideal. However, for bigger potted plants you can easily hide it behind the foliage. The front has easily readable metrics so you dont need more instructions than that. Dry, moist and wet. It literally tells you when to water and when not to. It was quite cheap and it does feel quite cheap - However it does the job and seems pretty sturdy so thats all you need. It doesn't have batteries or anything, it works when the metal rod touches the soil and moves the needle depending on the wetness of your plant. ## Frequently Bought Together - XLUX Soil Moisture Meter, Plant Water Monitor, Hygrometer Sensor for Gardening, Farming, Indoor and Outdoor Plants, No Batteries Required - VIVOSUN 6.5 Inch Gardening Scissors Hand Pruner Pruning Shear with Straight Stainless Steel Blades Orange 1-Pack - Bonide Captain Jack's Neem Oil, 32 oz Ready-to-Use Spray, Multi-Purpose Fungicide, Insecticide and Miticide for Organic Gardening --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - 🛒 **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** — Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** — Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - 💰 **No Hidden Fees** — All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - 🔄 **15-Day Free Returns** — Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - 🔒 **Secure Payments** — Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** — Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.co.za/products/48870474-xlux-plant-soil-moisture-meter-for-indoor-and-outdoor-use](https://www.desertcart.co.za/products/48870474-xlux-plant-soil-moisture-meter-for-indoor-and-outdoor-use) --- *Product available on Desertcart South Africa* *Store origin: ZA* *Last updated: 2026-11-03*
