None of the Staples needed hammering flat, though I'm not sure whether this will be the case with hardwood. The staple gun itself is all metal which gives it a reassuring weightiness, and suggests it will be durable. It is easy to load Staples when you know how (the instructions could have been clearer), and the trigger mechanism doesn't require too much pressure which makes it comfortable to use for longer periods.
