No, so I ordered one for him and it arrived same day thanks to desertcart. This model is called a bulb transplanter but will work on lawns as well. Assembly was easy and the handle has foam grips for comfort. Very sturdy construction out of mild steel. He immediately went to work plugging and moving healthy grass to areas where the ground was bare. Press the bottom into the ground, twist remove the plug. Place your foot on the ejection lever and the plug falls out. Repeat the process where you want to establish new grass, insert the plug and take the bare plug back to the original hole to prevent needless empty holes. Works very well.

Works well in regular soil and perfect for bulb planting. We'll see how it goes come spring for grass plugs when my clay soil is much softer. (early fall my clay soil is dried out and hard). I'll try after running the sprinkler too. But this is the same for all similar sod coring tools. Otherwise well built, sturdy, and I recommend it.
