Review: Great product - This product is awesome, it has stopped my obsession to need to test everyday, I’m fairly new to fish keeping 6 months in, My tank is fully cycled but the need to make sure the perimeters were perfect everyday was still there, Spending alot of money if api test, I’ve had this in my tank for 3/4 weeks and I love it, I know it’s only measured free ammonia but as that is the worst for the fish so that’s what I’m going to worry about, I water change every week anyway, What I will say I’ve noticed is during the day it will be at the safe level, once the lights are off over night it moves to the first warning alert level, On googling this is completely normal as my lights are off which stops the plants doing their thing, as soon as the lights come on it goes back to safe level, I did do a strip test after a couple of days then haven’t again highly recommend this for peace of mind,
Review: Don’t rely on these! - ***updated review based on new knowledge of how this works, please read and ignore the review underneath.*** This works by identifying dangerous ammonia not total ammonia which includes ammonium, typically the water test kits identify both ammonia and ammonium (which isn’t as dangerous to fish) and therefore will always show higher levels of Ammonia, so although water test kits are best and tell you where you are in the cycle, the alert is the one which will tell you when your fish are in danger without the need for water testing continuously. As soon as you see the alert start to rise you know there are dangerous levels of Ammonia present. This alert is best for an already cycled tank, I can say that my tank is now full of algae and happily cycled and I had no major issues. Just be aware that water test kits are a MUST and really i would only use those to cycle with. The Ammonia Alert does its job well, it won’t register total ammonia, only dangerous ammonia which is what’s important. I would recommend it for peace of mind when you get on with your cycled aquarium. Be patient and wait for the test kits to show 0 on both ammonia and Nitrite and then get this alert. Hope that helps. ***original review***Just a word of caution to anyone doing a fish in cycle with bottled bacteria (colony). This alarm thing seems a great idea but in reality the reaction is very delayed and shows 0 at low level ammonia, when water tests show 0.25, this showed 0. I woke in the middle of the night (thank goodness I did) and one of my clowns were agitated. Checked water parameters and ammonia is at 0.50! The “alarm” barely shows 0.04. A big difference 😩 thank god I had Seachem Prime to hand otherwise it would have been a horrible ending. It’ll stay in my tank but it’s definitely too delayed to make a quick change to save your fish, rely on water tests only.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: does this need batteries?**
A: No... its a thin piece of plastic with some kind of reacting Paint in the circular pattern & a sucker that attaches it to the inside of your tank glass. sounds flimsy but they last for ages.

**Q: How long does this last ?**
A: Official manufacturer information: At least one year! Just google the product name and you will find it, Amazon doesn't allow links here.Let us know if we can help with any other information! All the bestCarsten from STATTRAND

**Q: Can this be used in a fresh water / tropical tank or is it salt water only like most of seacham's products?**
A: This is for both fresh water and salt water.

**Q: Do you remove all the plastic wrap , mine stayed on the centre disc**
A: The centre disk needs to be exposed to the water. It should not be covered
