Well, usually what happens when you make your own hole is that the hole weakens the belt and it falls apart. Sure enough, where I made the hole I use to tighten it looked like it was going to do this. But it has not. It is still very strong. These are good belts and good value. I will eventually have to use belt number two if/when belt number one fails but that looks to be a way off. Highly recommend this belt.
