Very substantial . Bristles are soft but still clean teeth very well . Great value for money **Q: the bristles are made from activated charcoal?** A: No Miss K. I thought they were but they are not but I much prefer them as they do give a deep clean and don't wear down the enamel. **Q: How long can this be used?** A: Depending on how often you use it.. but the bristles are very sort so they will no fray easily.. I've been using the same one for months now :) **Q: are the bristles synthetic and coated with charcoal, or animal bristle?** A: None of these, they are fine bamboo bristles. Personally I found them too soft for general daily use, but they were very good when I had mouth ulcers - much less painful to use than ordinary nylon brushes.
