Review: AN ABSOLUTE MONSTER!! - I've had a few 300w subs for my home theater and always found them a bit lacking. So I decided for a little overkill! My living room is about 15'x25' but it's open to the kitchen also. I put the speaker in the corner because this monster wouldn't fit under my huge entertainment center! Definitely love this thing. You certainly can't turn up the volume all the way for normal use! Initially I had my 300w Polk hooked up also but this was just causing standing waves and more dead spots. I put this in the back left corner of the room pointed at the front left speaker and it sounds great, plus when you walk out of the kitchen you get a good look at this attractive beast behind the couch. The accuracy seems good but to me it's hard to judge detail in bass. I wish you could adjust the dynamic range a little, sometimes the "smaller" sounds are louder than they should be. This thing easily rattles dishes and cabinets in the kitchen and I live on a concrete slab! Pros: Super loud Good detail Great smartphone app for adjustments Very nice looking Remote included Cons: Extremely heavy!!

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Is this good for movies or music, or both?**
A: I use it for both. Typically a sealed box has a little tighter bass with not quite as low frequency range so its a little more preferred by me for music. The SB 16 is so big and powerful it does better than most vented subs, just not quite as good as the PB16 ultra, and I don't have the room for the PB16. I don't care for the PB16 quite as well for music but it does go lower in frequency and for some people they like it better for movies.  Its like splitting hairs, if I had the room I'd have a PB16 ultra as well.

**Q: How much does the actual unit weigh?  Seems that it weighs 122lbs according to product descriptio.  I assume this is including the pallet and box?**
A: It's more like 160

**Q: How do these compare to something like the JL f113v2?  Is it best in it's class or best of all classes?**
A: Can't compare with JL. Not in the same class.  Those JL's are $5,000 each.  If you have the money, go JL.  If you only have $4k or $2k, SVS or Klipsch.

**Q: can i run all my tech and 2 of these on a single 15 amp circuit without triping it ?**
A: That would depend on how hard you push your system.  I had one subwoofer along with three amps pushing 13 channels and did not have an issue.  You will probably never come close to pulling full rated power from any of your amps, but I would recommend separate circuits if you are able to, at least with one of your subwoofers.

I did a lot of research before buying this, and at first I did not like it. It is necessary to get the sub in phase with your speakers, which can take some time. But once you do, you will hear frequencies you never heard before - this thing goes down to 16 HZ. Only about 20 to 30 percent of recordings actually have information below about 40 HZ, but it is worth it to hear what is on the recordings that do. Some recordings I did not expect to have deep bass just shocked me.
