One thing to remember is that these are utterly useless if you intend using a brush as well. Now, I do use the standard paints and thin them for air but honestly? These pre-mix versions are much better. I've been using Vallejo model/game air paints since I first picked up a cheap AB+compressor kit and basic as well as metallic sets--restocking and building collections of shades along the way. Buy a tin of Humbrol enamel - MET 56 (ALUMINIUM) - this is close to a real aluminium finish if it's only for scratches and not much larger areas. It will dry to a strong surface.
