The charger is microprocessor controlled and falls to a maintenance level when the battery is fully charged. Since it is fused at 3 amps it would be quite happy with a 6 amp supply. **Q: can charger be used whilst battery is still fitted to car.** A: Yes. Its designed to maintain your battery while connected to the car. Its not the fastest charger on the market but then thats not its prime purpose. **Q: can you charge battery still conected to car** A: Yes, this is the best way to charge the battery, you can also leave the charger on the car as long as you like as it will shut of when not needed and if the battery needs a top up it will start to charge again . This charger is plug and forget . **Q: Can this charger be used when battery is not connected to the vehicle** A: I have successfully used this to charge the battery both when it has been fully disconnected from the car and also while it is in place and connected. It comes with clips to attach to the terminals for a temporary connection and also a cable that you can permanently connect to the battery to make it very quick and simply to connect the charger for a top-up. I've been very happy with this and would absolutely recommend it. Result! ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Battery maintainer for short stop start journeys *by M***E on 25 December 2025* This battery charge maintener is excellent. It is compact and easy to use. I have been using it to make sure my diesel car will start in this cold weather. I do a lot of stop start journeys and this runs the battery down without sufficiently recharging my car. I would recommend this charger/ maintainer to anyone in a similar situation. The product was at a fair price and has saved me the worry of not being able to start the car. The product is sturdy and hopefully will remain in good service for a long time. It was recommended to me by the mechanic who came to get my car started on a cold day.
