Review: Not essential but I certainly would never be without an official charging dock ! - I have always bought the Charging Dock for all my Xperia phones (the XZ Premium is my 4th) and they are, as always well made and up to the job. You don't NEED one of course, as many people have pointed out (well you don't need anything really except food and water !) but I find they are very convenient. When I have bought any phone (I have had too many to count now) I always buy 3 things : Official Case, Screen Protector (Official ones if they are available), and a Charging Dock. You can buy cheap alternatives I am sure, but in the early days I have fallen foul of doing that, so it is best to get the official stuff, why pay £650 for a phone then buy a £10 case, and docking station ? There habe been a couple of comments about the cost, well if you want to go down that route, try Apple, then you WILL have cause to complain, and I would be the first to agree then. So why this.. well it supports the phone well, and has a small footprint, it also contains 3 adaptors, although I use the one that first when you can put it in with the cover closed on the phone, that way you can also put it in with the cover open as well if you so desire. You can almost pop it on the dock without thinking as it located very easily in the plug on the dock. Whether you buy one or not, is like everything, a personal decision, as you may or may not need it, but all I will say is that I am 100% delighted with it and glad I bought it ! Review: Not up to typical Sony standards unfortunately. - Quite surprised with quality this time around from Sony. I've had both the DK30 and Z3 compact and loved the combo. It is for that reason I picked up the DK60 for use with my XZ1 compact. However I am not entirely pleased this time. The XZ1 is a very tight fit in one of the larger brackets bundled with the stand. The phone does not sit snugly and squarely all the way in the groove so that the weight is spread actoss the base of the stand. Instead, the phone flexes back on the USB Type C connector. Precision engineering is not needed but this is an obvious flaw/oversight or just Sony trying to make one product fit for all. The base is lightweight but it has a grippy/tacky underside that counters the weight up top when the phone is inserted. I can see this failing soon. All in all, for the price I am wavering as to whether I will live to accept this for the next few years. Put simply, I'm not immediately convinced as I have been with Sony in the past.
