## Description

From the manufacturer Philips RacingVision +150% H4 Headlight Bulb 12342RVS2, Twin Pack Philips Automotive is dedicated to producing best-in-class products and services in the Original Equipment Manufacturer market as well as in aftermarket. Our products are manufactured from high-quality materials and tested to the highest specifications to maximise the safety and driving comfort of our customers. Our entire production is meticulously tested, controlled and certified (ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and QSO 9000) to the highest ECE requirements. Take your lights and your driving to the limit Philips RacingVision car bulbs are the perfect choice for passionate drivers. With an incredible performance of up to 150% more brightness, you'll be able to react faster for a safer, more exciting driving experience. Type of lamp: H4 Pack of: 2 12 V, 60/55 W Experience more light See further, react faster When driving at night you need the very best visibility. The further you can see clearly, the faster you can react to whatever appears on the road. Philips RacingVision headlamps boost your visibility with up to 150% more brightness. You'll recognise obstacles in your way earlier than with other, less powerful halogen bulbs. So you get to enjoy a safer, more pleasant journey. Excellent light performance With better, brighter lights you're able to perform better on the road. With their optimised high-precision filament geometry, up to 13-bar high-pressure gas filling, high-precision chrome coating and high-quality UV-Quartz glass, Philips RacingVision headlights set a new standard in automotive lighting. Engineered for performance and visibility, these headlights allow for a more relaxed, controlled and fun driving experience. Strong light, early reaction When driving at higher speeds on poorly lit country roads, you rely on the performance of your headlights. When you're faced with an unexpected danger, reaction time is everything. Even split seconds can make a crucial difference to your safety. The superior beam performance of the Philips RacingVision headlamp helps you identify dangerous situations faster and stay in perfect control of your vehicle – whatever road conditions you're facing. Great contrast drives fun Visual skills are pushed to the limit when you are driving at night. In low-light conditions, or when you are experiencing glare from other vehicles, your ability to contrast between objects is significantly reduced. This makes it harder to spot obstacles, such as a pedestrian on the road. The specific colour temperature in Philips RacingVision headlights (available in H4 and H7) allows your eyes to focus better and perceive contrasts in the distance. That makes you a safer road user. And with your limits increased, driving after dark is now a more exciting experience. Why Choose Philips Lights? It’s important to change lamps in pairs The filament of older headlamps will break sooner At the end of their life, lamps project less light, thereby reducing visibility It’s faster, easier and cheaper to change both headlamps, rather than just one High-quality quartz glass UV-Quartz glass is stronger than hard glass and highly resistant to temperature extremes and vibrations, which eliminates the risk of explosion. Philips quartz-glass lamps (filament 2650º C and glass 800º C) are able to withstand severe thermal shock. With the capability of increased pressure inside the lamp, UV-quartz glass is able to produce a more powerful light.

Review: Please read before purchasing! - This is probably the first time I am writing a product review. I am passionate about cars and safety is one aspect I do admire. Therefore, I decided to change the standard headlamps to these Philip racing vision ones which are 150% brighter and totally road legal. They certainly give the car a very good look especially pleased me even though I had high expectations. The bulbs are 55W and totally legal. They don't have that much difference on normal street lighted roads. However, if you travelling on darker roads or on poorly lit roads this does wonders. Overall, don't be mistaken that you will see more powerful lights. They are more brighter with the same intensity and they reach out further and have better clarity on darker roads as the light is more on the whiter tone. This will help all customers to understand this product better and manage their expectations which would otherwise lead to negative reviews for a great product.
Review: The best bulbs I have used. - I replaced the bulbs in my other car last year with these and should have done the same with the Focus. The lights were perfectly adequate but then 1 bulb went and I just bought an ordinary bulb from the garage and didn’t really notice any difference. Then some weeks later the other dip went so I replaced that as the first. It was then I realised how the light output had deteriorated. So now I’m on the same as the other car and can see at night again. I never get flashed as they are set right and must have a decent cut off. I’m expecting the longevity to be good because Phillips a good make.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Is it really 150% or 50% brighter? (this is question to philips I think)**
A: The measure of brightness is probably marketing BS. What you're looking for isn't really peak lumens but what's called a figure of merit measurement. This sticks the bulb in a typical reflector and measures how much light goes where you want it to go. You might have a really bright beam but if it's illuminating the wrong place then it's bloody useless. The interaction with the reflector depends on a few things (such as that lovely silvery bit on the end which will reflect and block light). I really dunno what they have based their measurement on but you can be damned sure it'll be in completely ideal conditions when magical fairies happen to be farting in the direction of the northern lights or something. From quantitative testing in experimental conditions I can say these are the best using FOM and using the reflector employed during testing. Osram's top of the range bulbs came a very close second and probably within the margin for error of the testing. Compared to the FOM measures of an OEM bulb (various makes, they're all various levels of shite) the result for this was some 3 or 4 times higher. Basically this is brighter overall (which means you MUST ensure your dipped beams are aimed right - easy to do with a wall or using the car in front in stopped traffic and the little adjuster in the cockpit) and put more light where it needs to be on the road. You will be able to see the outline of the projection of the reflector with these things (i.e. a spike on the left hand side to illuminate road signs and then dropping down where it hits oncoming traffic so as not to blind them) which you have no chance of seeing with stock bulbs unless you have HIDs. On the subject of HID - I fitted a HID kit (an expensive one, not crap) to my motorcycle and after technical issues I removed it and replaced it with one of these high end bulbs. The end result was 90% of the efficacy for about 20% of the cost. Hope this helps.

**Q: are these bulbs main/dip in one bulb**
A: Yes the bulbs are main and dip in one bulb. They are a whiter light than original. Certainly brighter.

**Q: Are these bulbs UK road legal**
A: No, these are not legal, if you want a light upgrade, go to a main dealer and ask about a xenon light upgrade. Car lights are special designed for a certain bulb, upgrading a bulb is dangerous as it can cause unnecessary glare to on coming vehicles. Which is why Mot centres do not pass these upgrades.

**Q: How long should they last? I fit them in april and one bulb has already blown**
A: Bulb life will be compromised if it is soiled when fitted. Make sure the next bulb is spotless and dont touch it with you fingers

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Bright, but they can't make up for bad headlight design
*by J***D on 10 February 2021*

I bought these to use for the dipped beam on my car. They are pretty bright for halogen bulbs - certainly a lot brighter than the rubbish GE bulbs installed by my garage before I got these. They are still working fine after several months but I don't expect them to last long. They are not really 'white' in colour, but road-legal halogen bulbs will always have limitations in that regard so you probably won't be able to get 'E' marked bulbs that are much better. But no matter how bright the bulbs themselves are, with the reflector assembly I have they are not going to give a good range and won't compare to anything you could get from HID or LED lights. It's not just a question of brightness and is as much down to how the light is directed and diffused by the headlight assembly to avoid blinding other users. This is demonstrated by comparing to the full beam on my car which lights up the road almost like daylight for about a quarter of a mile using exactly the same type of bulb. Unfortunately It seems that due to antiquated laws, HID and LED lights on many cars are not designed with the same kind of consideration to other road users.
