This handmade and hand-painted mug is part of the Raffaellesco dinnerware and kitchenware collections. The origins of the Raffaellesco pattern are uncertain. Still, we can tell for sure that it has been the most popular Deruta ceramic pattern for many decades, and it still is our bestseller. All our Raffaellesco pottery is handmade by Fima in Deruta. The family-run company has an excellent reputation for its classic Italian ceramics, thanks to their intricate, carefully hand-painted details. Deruta is a small Umbrian town very well known worldwide for its handmade pottery quality and beauty. It can be considered one of the most vital and productive Italian ceramics centers since the Italian Renaissance in the 15th century. Deruta has been famous for its pottery for centuries. During the Italian Renaissance, the vibrant creativity and impeccable execution of its ceramics attracted noblemen and wealthy merchants who took pride in collecting them. Most of those fantastic art pieces are now on display in art museums on both sides of the pond.

Review: FIMA, Deruta Raffaellesco ceramic mug - The mug was beautiful and exactly as shown on the website (which is great, because it then correctly matches the older mugs I currently own that have the same pattern and that were also made in FIMA, Deruta). However it has a significant flaw in the lip. There is a very noticeable hole in the ceramic which directly faces me when holding the mug in my right hand (as I would do when using it). Not only is it unsightly, but I do worry about it perhaps chipping overtime, around that area, with use. As these mugs are very expensive, I have reordered and hope the next one is perfect.
