## Overview

Liquitex Professional Matte Medium is a 16-oz fluid acrylic medium designed to create a durable, matte, non-reflective finish. It mixes seamlessly with Liquitex acrylic paints to extend volume, increase translucency, and improve adhesion and flexibility. Safe, non-toxic, and ASTM D4236 certified, it’s ideal for artists seeking professional-grade results with a sophisticated matte sheen on porous surfaces.

## Description

Liquitex offers the broadest range of acrylic mediums to inspire creativity at every stage of the painting process. Liquitex Fluid Mediums perform much in the way that their name implies, they are fluid in nature and reduce viscosity of heavier paints and gels. They tend to self-level and do not retain brushstrokes. Liquitex Fluid Mediums modify acrylic paints in a variety of ways and contain acrylic resins to maintain or enhance adhesion and durability. Liquitex Matte Medium Fluid Painting Medium creates a matte, non-reflecting finish when added to acrylic colors. Mix into any acrylic paint to increase transparency and extend color, increase matte sheen, increase film integrity, ease flow of paint and add flexibility and adhesion of paint film. Mix with Liquitex Gloss Medium & Varnish to produce a semi-gloss or satin medium. Opaque when wet, translucent when dry. APPLICATIONS: AS EXTENDER: Mix with Liquitex Soft Body Artist Color to extend volume and increase translucency while maintaining viscosity. Mix with Liquitex Heavy Body Artist Color or Basics Acrylic Color to extend volume and increase translucency while decreasing paint viscosity. AS FIXATIVE: Use as a matte fixative over artwork to decrease gloss or shine. Mix 1 part Matte Medium to 1 part distilled water and apply with atomizer or airbrush. Excess medium applied to the surface may cause fogging. AS GROUND: Recommended fluid medium to use as a transparent ground (size) with excellent tooth and adhesion instead of gesso. This will allow the color and texture of the support to show through. EXTERIOR MURALS: If the support or wall is somewhat smooth, a coat of Matte Medium should be brushed, or two coats sprayed, onto the surface prior to applying a gesso. I have been using this product for many years and it never fails! It always adds a nice matte finish to my art work. Basically, medium is a paint without pigment and adds all of those great binding properties into my acrylics. In fact, what I do often is to add this medium to lesser quality art paints and I still end up with professional looking art work every time. In addition, I always finish my paintings with a high quality, UV resistant spray varnish (which also makes the colors 'pop' and come to life with brilliance). Between this combination of supplies, I have never once had any issues with my paintings fading, cracking, yellowing or anything like that. I have found Liquitex matte medium long ago and have used it faithfully for many years. I need nothing else. This stuff is perfect for my needs and techniques. Recommended this! Five stars all day!
