The 1 gram (1/4 teaspoon) scoop was selected as it provided a simplified measurement tool that covers the range of uses. For example, Waterpik irrigators contain 2 cups of water solution so two even scoops of powder works well. When we looked at putting a halfway mark on the scoop for mixing about 1/2 cup of solution, it was too small for most to see so we recommend visually measuring the half way mark.
