They collapse to minimize storage space when not in use, and they have not shown any signs of breaks in the creases. They are made of silicon, so you do want to avoid using sharp knives within them. I love these containers, they’re very durable, easy to use, and dishwasher safe. I bought two sets of them because they are space saving, the silicone isn’t so thick that it won’t fold. The seal is tight, even soup won’t leak out. I’ve had them for three years and they still fold for space saving, don’t leak, and the lids stay secure.
