It is heavily constructed, such a device you would find at a physical therapy department in a hospital. **Q: Is the plug from the controller to the pad easy to connect? Or does it take a muscle man? (New pad is no where near a tight fit. Defective?)** A: Can't remember how is was packaged, but nothing that alarmed me. The plug in the controller fits snug in our pad.
