Seems to hold well. - Update 2: Almost three years in and I haven't had a problem with any of the original patches. Still a great, cheap and apparently quite long-lasting way to patch a hole. Update: More than a year later, facing south Florida heat and storms, none of them have come loose, fallen off, or otherwise failed in any way. Everything below still applies. Original review: Had a screen with 7 or 8 holes ranging from a thin slit to something you could easily put a golf ball through. Years ago, I'd used patches you had to sort of clip on by bending the mesh prongs so they intertwined with the intact screen around the hole. They were effective at blocking holes but were super tedious to put up. I hoped that in the ensuing decade or so, something better had come along. And sure enough, this is significantly better. Cheap, easy to cut, easy to remove the backing, easy to install, and it works. I patched all of the holes in about 15 minutes (note: if the screen isn't taut, you'd do well to have somebody on the other side hold a sturdy object up to the hole to give you something to press against...we used a foam yoga block). These aren't invisible by any means. They're at least as noticeable as the holes themselves...maybe more. If you're in the market for a seamless, invisible fix, you're going to need to rescreen the whole thing. But if you want cheap, easy, and effective, this is your product. I'll update if they seem to fall off sooner than I hope, but it's been a few weeks and some heavy rains and so far, so good. Real ventilation like a real screen?** A: Fyi the adhesive which "blocks" the screen kinda melts in the sun so yes it's real screen nylon and yes it is vented. **Q: Is this tape opaque with a "screen" image printed on it, or is it actually screen material with adhesive on one side?** A: It’s screen on one side and glue on the other. It lets light through but you can’t see through it due to the glue. It’s like having frosted glass where the tape is applied. **Q: For a screen door, do you apply the repair piece on the interior or exterior? How does it hold up in the elements?** A: I applied it on the exterior because it seemed that it would better hold the edges together, if the repair is not on an edge it might not matter very much. Thus far it has held up fine even in the rain **Q: Is this real screen with holes, or just adhesive tape with a mesh design? I want to cover a vent, but allow air in, just keep the bugs out.** A: This is just a piece of tape with screen on one side so that it looks like a screen. However, I would caution you about using screening less than 1/4" on any type of vent in order to keep pests out. Screening is too small and would restrict airflow for vents which would cause problems down the road. The best solution is to find what is causing bugs getting in the vent and eliminate that cause instead. This goes for any system that has venting, whether it be an HVAC system, a sewer system , or anything else. Systems that rely on venting to work require a specific amount of air flow and usually have very little tolerances. If you reduce (or even increase) that airflow even by just a tiny fraction, it can cause the whole system to function improperly, leading to all kinds of problems including breakdown or even irreparable system damage.
