Over time the holes will get clogged on any mesh. They also Lazer etch their logo on the holes creating a weak area; mine has cracked there as have others. I recommend paper after using metal mesh. **Q: diameter of filter?** A: I don’t have it in front of me but it is the exact same diameter as the Aeropress paper filter and the Aeropress filter housing. For roughly ten years, I've used my AeoPress making each cup of coffee to my liking. I probably make too much each day, but that's my issue. Since I travel virtually year-round away from the US, I'v found the paper filters a source of frustration, frequently running out. Mid-year I returned to the US and ordered a supply of paper filters, and after trying this product out left them back in the US.
