RoudyBush Lory Nectar 15 is a 2 lb powdered bird food specially formulated with lower sugar content to reduce yeast infections common in lories and lorikeets. Its easy-to-mix powder form supports all life stages, promotes healthier digestion with drier droppings, and ensures your feathered friend thrives on a maintenance diet tailored just for them.

## Description

This diet is lower in sugar than other brands of nectars, so switching a bird from another brand of nectar sometimes requires adding a small amount of powdered sugar to the diet and slowly eliminating it to convert the birds. Less sugar is helpful to reduce incidence of yeast infections that lories are prone to due to the high sugar diets they are commonly fed. Some people grind up the maintenance pellets into a powder or convert their birds to maintenance crumbles. Lories do very well on the maintenance diet. Feeding pellets, crumbles, or dry powdered Lory Nectar will result in drier, easier to clean up droppings, making lories that much more pleasant to live with. Although some people use the Lory Nectar to handfeed lory chicks, we recommend using Formula 3, which provides a little higher protein needed for growth in the chicks and eliminates the sugar that could lead to yeast infections.

**Q: How many servings in this bag?**
A: With one (1) Lorykeet, our two pound bag lasted about 8 months. We fed the Lori two (2) times a day. Hope that this helps. We feed the RoudyBush Lory Nectar with thinly sliced apples, blackberrys Kiwi, and mango all chopped up very fine with the RoudyBush mixed in with the fruits every meal. The Lory Nector is mixed in fresh  every meal, we make up about a quart of fruit at a time.

**Q: Can this be stored in the freezer to keep it fresh longer?**
A: I don’t know, never stored it for that long. It doesn’t go bad when you’re using it to feed your bird. I think it would have to be opened and not used for a long time to go bad.
