It was very easy to set up, and I was able to preset my dog’s meals and portion sizes. She gets the right amount of food twice a day automatically, so I no longer have to worry about remembering her feeding times. All I have to do is make sure she has fresh water, and the feeder takes care of the rest. It’s convenient, reliable, and gives me one less thing to worry about. Definitely worth it! Review: Excellent Automatic Feeder for Spoiled Cat and Picky Cat Dad - Recently after getting my cat Milo fixed, he’s grown a bigger appetite and wants to eat more than ever. He’s started waking me up SUPER early in the morning for food and won’t let me go back to sleep until he’s fed, no matter how much I try to ignore him. I also tend to have to go out of town frequently for business trips and since my partner accompanies me since they help me run my business, we have to rely on available friends and family to watch him. So an automatic feeder sounded like a good idea between being woken up before the sun and having the added bonus of making sure he gets fed while we’re away in case whoever watches him does not have time to stop by 3 different times throughout the day. I am an older Gen Z cat dad who treats my pets as most people treat their children. I only want the best for my son, Milo, and I’m very picky on quality of things when buying him anything (food, treats, toys, etc.) so I spent awhile trying to find a good cat feeder. I was a bit iffy about spending so much on a cat feeder but I decided to trust the reviews. The quality of everything so far has been excellent. I appreciate the locking mechanism as it’s easy to use but is cat proof so I don’t have to worry about him breaking into the food. I like that the stainless steel bowl is removable so it’ll make future washes a lot easier. My cat has had some minor cat acne on his chin from plastic bowls harboring bacteria and fats and because of this, it was important to me that his next bowl was steel and not plastic. I didn’t really understand the setup at first, but once you realize you need to press AND hold the lock button to set it up, the rest is really easy. I think the voice feature is cool, and though I haven’t used it myself yet, I like that it’s there in case I want to use it especially if I’m gone on a trip I can pre-record a message for him. It’s pretty quiet, doesn’t make a whole lot of noise when dispensing food, only a small whirring noise and the food clinking the bowl while it pours out. I especially enjoy the battery option as a back up in case the power were to ever go out, this is again something important to me as someone who has to go out of town relatively frequently. My very small minor complaint is I wish the manual said how much food is dispensed per portion, as you kind of just have to test it. Please be sure to test the portions using the “hand”/“feed” button before setting up portions per meal to ensure you’re feeding your cat the proper amount as I can guarantee you 1 portion is not as much as you might think it is. As far as value for money goes, I did get this on sale and while I think it was still a little pricey compared to other options, I personally don’t mind spending a little extra to ensure my cat has a good quality product especially for something as important as being fed. Overall, my cat is still learning and understanding exactly what it is and how it works, but he’s slowly starting to understand it and starting to enjoy it. I have peace of mind knowing that once he’s used to it, I will no longer be woken up at unreasonable hours for food and have peace of mind knowing that his care while we’re away is a little more ensured when it comes to making sure he’s fed properly. The setup is relatively easy and the design is nice and has a lot of features I find to be important and beneficial. If you’re looking for an automatic cat feeder but are iffy about spending the money, I think the money is well worth it for a good product. ## Features - Easy Programmable Feeding Times: Reliably feed your beloved pet at your convenience any time during the day or night; Set between 1-4 meals with 0-40 portion choices to automatically dispense food to give a personal customized diet for your pet. One portion is about a tablespoon, not 1.5 teaspoons. 1 cup of food would be about 16 portions. You can divide that up into four servings. My cat gets a half a cup of food a day, so we give him 1 portion (1 tbsp) early morning, 3 portions (3 tbsp) around the time we'd get up, and 4 portions (4 tbsp) in the evening. **Q: Is there a way to delete a feeding? I don’t need him to be fed four times a day or do I need to just lower the portions?** A: Set the portion to 0 and the meal will be canceled. You can follow the steps in the video to set it up. If you have more questions about the product, please contact us via 〖 support@voluas.com 〗 We will help you ASAP. **Q: What is the minimum portion size?** A: The minimum serving size that the feeder can set is 1 serving, which is about 7.5g. If you have more questions about the product, please contact us via 〖 support@voluas.com 〗 We will help you ASAP. **Q: What portion size do I program if I want it to feed 1 cup of food?** A: For 1 cup: 20 portions. We feed our dog 1/4 cup per meal, and we have it set to 5 portions. (It took a lot of trial and error. LOL) Hope this helps! ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ So convenient and easy to use *by D***C on September 11, 2026* I absolutely love this automatic dog feeder! It’s sleek, compact, and works exactly as expected. The setup was simple, it’s easy to clean and I love being able to schedule my cat’s meals so I don’t have to worry about feeding times when I’m busy or away. It dispenses the right amount of food consistently and has been very reliable so far. It’s also a great size without taking up too much space. Very durable and my other one has lasted years. I purchased one a few years ago and made a second purchase after adopting another kitten. Color is accurate to picture. Definitely a great purchase and would recommend to any cat owner! ## Frequently Bought Together - VOLUAS Automatic Cat Feeders - Dry Food Dispenser with Timer, Desiccant Bag, Programmable Portion Size Control 4 Meals Per Day, 10s Voice Recorder - Veken 95oz/2.8L Pet Fountain, Automatic Cat Water Fountain Dog Water Dispenser with Replacement Filters for Cats, Dogs, Multiple Pets (Grey, Plastic) - MeoHui Interactive Cat Toys - Retractable Wand Toy and Feather Toys Refills for Indoor Cats to Chase and Exercise --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - 🛒 **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** — Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** — Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - 💰 **No Hidden Fees** — All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - 🔄 **15-Day Free Returns** — Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - 🔒 **Secure Payments** — Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** — Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.co.za/products/445725059-voluas-automatic-cat-feeder-4l-timed-dry-food-dispenser-cats](https://www.desertcart.co.za/products/445725059-voluas-automatic-cat-feeder-4l-timed-dry-food-dispenser-cats) --- *Product available on Desertcart South Africa* *Store origin: ZA* *Last updated: 2026-10-08*
