The yellow permanently stained my wilton cake pan. A dark purple is hard to achieve following the directions, next time I'll try using red instead of pink in the mixture. I recommend dissolving the powder in a small amount of liquid first, letting it sit for a few minutes, stirring until smooth, and then stirring in to whatever you're making.
