Will I have to take it to a dealer to get it programmed?** A: We purchased these for a 2006 Chevrolet Silverado. We searched YouTube and found a "how to" video. Followed the instructions and it took about 5 minutes. They work great. **Q: What if you do not have orginal remote** A: The vehicle controls the programming and subsequent function of the fob. The fob just sends a unique ID code (so the vehicle computer knows if it's valid) and button-push code. During "programming" the vehicle considers whatever fob ID code is received to be exclusively 'Driver 1", and, if a second fob is allowed and "mated" during the session, that one becomes "Driver 2". The magic is all in the vehicle computer - the fob is nothing more than a 3-button "keyboard" with a unique ID code so the vehicle knows if it's valid for use with it, which (of possible 2 it will respond to) and what button is pushed. When "programming" everything is determined by the vehicle computer, the fob is relatively 'dumb' - it just tells the computer it's ID and what button is pushed. **Q: Will this work with a 2004 Chevy Trailblazer?** A: I’m not sure .
