The caffeine content didn't build to an intolerable amount over time and I definitely can see usage for marathons and beyond. One note here, the packet recommends that you take it 5 minutes before every 45 minute mark (i.e. at 00:40, 00:85, etc), as well as one five minutes before starting but I took these every thirty minutes during my runs (and none before). I didn't feel any negative effects to this, so I definitely think its fine to do so, just experiment with what works for you.
