My theory on this: the increased fluid/swelling in the joint was the bodies way of providing some type of cushioning between the bones. With the fluid gone, more bone on bone contact, more pain. I noticed some pain relief after only a week, and I'd say I'm 90% pain free now after 3 weeks. It used to be any kind of physical exertion would cause my knee to swell up to almost double in size.
