You can take the blades off and hand sharpen. Perhaps Makita may sharpen it? **Q: Why am i having a hard time locating the hedge trimmer attachment (in the us)? internationally, it appears to be viably available.** A: I had a really hard time finding this part . It took me forever but here it is Makita 198408-1 **Q: Does the BL1041B battery fits this shear?** A: My battery (I bought locally) is a standard Makita 18V Battery 4.0 Amp: BL1840B from a local store. So your battery should fit fine. It will accept a range of Makita batteries. Probably all. **Q: Can it cut emerald zoysia** A: this will cut off your finger! This is no toy or average clipper. It can cut small branches. ## Frequently Bought Together - Makita XMU04Z 18V LXT Lithium-Ion Cordless Grass Shear, Tool Only - Makita 198486-1 Long Handle Attachment - Makita BL1840BDC1 18V LXT® Lithium-Ion Battery and Charger Starter Pack (4.0Ah) --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - 🛒 **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** — Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** — Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - 💰 **No Hidden Fees** — All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - 🔄 **15-Day Free Returns** — Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - 🔒 **Secure Payments** — Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** — Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.co.za/products/40911582-xmu04z-18v-lxt-lithium-ion-cordless-grass-shear-tool-only](https://www.desertcart.co.za/products/40911582-xmu04z-18v-lxt-lithium-ion-cordless-grass-shear-tool-only) --- *Product available on Desertcart South Africa* *Store origin: ZA* *Last updated: 2026-10-10*
