A: No. I can not get 1 cat in it. It is small.Also not strong enough to hold the weight. I fear collapse. She weighs 11 lbs. Better for kittens or 1 smaller cat.

A: I did not notice a smell.  I love this carrier.  It is big enough for my fat cat and it is perfect for her.  Lots of openings and very well made.
