To have it register, you will need your Tesla key (the card). Put that on the usual spot (near cupholders in between seats). We got 3 rings and they all came right up. You will need to also put the key in that same spot as the master Tesla key card. Once it's registered, it should work nicely on the exterior of the car door. Use it just like the photos on the CNICK ad show--do the same hand position/gesture as shown. It should work fine. Like the keycard, Tesla is quirky with the keys needing to be in exact spots. That's the car, not so much the keys. We love our rings. Hope you enjoy yours, too. They are a cool conversation piece, too. People ask is my ring is an Oura ring (one of those smart rings that measures heartrate, steps, etc). I say no, it's my car key. Very fun accessory. I do keep my phone app though. I use the ring as a backup to my phone app key. I'm reordering a 9.5 and hoping for better luck with that size. I did-however, get the ring to work just fine! The thing to remember is the actual RFID reader isn't in the center of where you'd put the card, it's off-center a bit. In any case, once I found the magic spot it works great. Certainly well enough to use as a backup for my phone if it runs out of battery!I'll update the review once I get the replacement ring.
