They're not the toughest material, they're actually kind of soft, but I think that's why our dog (75lb GSD/Pittie mutt who devours tennis balls in <5 mins) likes them and maybe even why it's lasted (he can't puncture them). I don't know, I guess if your dog likes to rip/tear/pull apart toys, this maybe isn't the best? But it works for us. Photos show damage after about 3 months of daily use, probably from us stuffing poorly-fitting treats into it, rather than from the dog. :) This is my go-to distraction toy for when I'm about to leave the house or when we're eating out and need him to focus on something other than our food. When I put chicken jerky in it, it takes him 10-15 minutes to get out. Kibble or small treats only last a few minutes. The original bento treat that it comes with lasts about 20-30 mins. The rubber is sturdy and so far I have not had any issues with it ripping or tearing.However my dog is very easy on her toys, she is very food motivated so she loves this thing especially when I first put the treat in it.
