The Spartan locker's design does not use the thrust washers and has a revolutionary spring and pin design that makes installation a snap!This automatic locker replaces the stock side and pinion gears while utilizing the factory open differential case. A new and stronger center pin fits in oval slots between two inner drivers. Under load the center pin forces the inner drivers outward to engage the outer axle couplers on each side of the case. This provides locked power to both drive wheels, providing greater traction. You would need a different locker for the rear Dana 35 in your YJ but i would personally not put an auto locker in it. This will pop considerably on pavement in your rear diff. I have it in my front and it behaves like an open diff when in 2wd. It locks up in 4wd and becomes stiffer to steer but climbs rocks much better. I have the D-30 front. **Q: Does this locker make noise on tight turns?** A: Yes, all lunch box type lockers make a clicking noise on turns. On slow tight turns you may occasionally hear and feel a loud banging. I have this locker in my front D30 and while turning into a parking space I turn slowly and don't accelerate while doing this type of turning.
