He is the clever farmer who came up with the seed blocking idea. There are lots of variations on his basic soil recipe. I use about half peat moss, half compost, with some perlite, and a sprinkling of lime, phosphorous, and greensand and slowly add water and mix it all together until it jiggles a little. You can ball it up in your hand and drop it - if it largely stays together its good.
