You can press it into a position where it will stay on while you use it, or if you press it into a different position, it will go off when you release it. There are certain times when either of these positions are useful, but be sure you can get the grinder to stop when you want it to when the switch is in the 'run' position. Be careful when the grinder is running like this. **Q: What kind of grinding discs does it take?** A: 4 to 4 1/2 inch discs ( blades ) Multiple kinds from masonry to diamond blades. Available anywhere tools are sold. **Q: Do the grinding wheels come with it?** A: MIne came with a Dewalt 1/4" thick grinding wheel, But I wouldn't choose a grinder based on that! This one is great either way and wheels are cheap **Q: Are the brushes replaceable?** A: I haven't had a chance to take it apart therefore can not give you a good answer to that. But you should look at a very important factor. The fact that the grinders are so affordable it should not even matter much, unless you are thinking to buy it for 20+ years. I am working in a metal/fabrication shop as a welder for 5+ years now and never had a problem with grinders of good quality like: dewalt, ridgid and others. And i am abusing them on a daily bases quite systematically.
