I am not going to lie mechanical ability is a plus. And not extremely heavy but the drive unit has some weight. Installed by myself I. About four hours start to finish. Review: Easy installation and works wonderfully! - Installation is surprisingly easy if you watch the video, the printed instructions weren't very good. It took two of us less than three hours (if you don't count the glitch described below). We had one little glitch - the seat would tip forward when you swiveled it to get out at the top of the stairs and would pull the chair out of level. We tried a torque wrench to tighten the bolts and that didn't solve it. Did take me a few days to get a tech on the phone, but when I did he was helpful. I had to take the 4 levelling bolts completely out and put them back in. At the time of manufacture, they "missed" the correct internal holes with the bolts. This was a bit of a complicated process and necessitated taking the two covers off of the chassis so I could shift the internal plate to where I needed it to be. But it worked!
