The bamboo lids are just snug enough so they are air tight but not difficult to get on and off. I find these to be very versatile, there was no odor, they sat nice, flat and stable on my countertop and came with a set of handy labels to finish the look. I have no complaints about these. They added a fresh look to my kitchen. I love how they dress my counters up while being functional. This set of 3 canisters with their bamboo lids are well worth the money that I spent on them.
