These tongs are long, sturdy and cheap. Long to keep my hands away from the heat. Sturdy to withstand heavy use and abuse. Cheap because equipment tends to get lost and broken during camping trips. They also don't have any rubber, plastic, or wood on them that could be damaged if they accidentally get dropped into a fire. I own a set of the 17-inch Rösle tongs but I don't want to take them camping because they cost over 5 times as much as the 16-inch Winco tongs. The Winco tongs are a decent alternative for camping. They have the same usable length because the length of the Rösle includes the hanging loop. The Winco and Rösle tongs are comparable in strength as they use the same thickness of stainless steel. However, the Rösle tongs are more comfortable to hold, and they have a lock to keep them closed. The main downside of the Winco UT-16HT tongs is that they don't have a lock to keep them closed. Winco makes the "heavy duty" UTLK-16 with a lock, but they are not even close to the strength of the "extra heavyweight" UT-16HT.
