If they come loose you're just simply using too small a plug for the hole you have. I bought these when I should have picked a slightly smaller size, but I just ran the holes out with a #7 (a hair smaller than 1/4 inch) drill bit and bob's your uncle. Strangely enough, the "threads" on the inner plug do nothing to aid in removing it. It just spins merrily in place.
