We have an 11-year old, 11-pound indoor/outdoor tabby who has lived in the same house all her life and howls during the 5 minute annual trips to the vet in her carrier. She dislikes people (other than me and my husband), and hates the dog. So needless to say we figured the 2300 mile - each way! - trip from California to North Carolina in the the Subaru Outback with us and the dog was going to be miserable. Not so - she traveled great in this habitat/condo with a few assists. It was roomy and fit the included litterbox and water bowl, plus her food dish, and cat bed. Tons of room. We carried it (with her in it) by the handles into the hotel each night, opened it up inside so she could sleep on the bed with us. It's made great, and once we were back home we followed the online video instructions to collapse it back up and put it in its little pouch. Here are some tips that worked for us for a peaceful trip. She did NOT like the flaps up so she could see which we did initially for the first hour - she liked them DOWN so she was in a little secure cave atmosphere. We loaded the dog behind our seats on his bed, then the luggage, and in the very back of the Outback put the habitat/condo on top of some boxes - so she was separated from the dog and us. It was peaceful back there for her, and we reached in and petted her at every rest stop. That first hour was rough - we used pheromone spray (which was USELESS btw), and had the condo flaps up so she could see out which freaked her out. She howled away and started clawing. We pulled over, put the flaps down, and gave her the mild oral sedative the vet prescribed for us in case she was agitated (understatement). She never needed the sedative again the entire 3 day trip there (and 3 days back). Once she got used to the condo she was fine. The sedative helped her settle in the first day, and it was easy from there. You can also use a little cbd oil on the nose. We absolutely LOVE this "cabitat." Make sure your cat is relaxed initially so she adjusts to the condo, and then the trip will go great. If it worked for our cat, it should work for any cat. This is a great product. Also, they include a very well made little cat toy fishing pole thing which my cat loved. Review: Excellent Kitty or Small Dog carrier - especially for two animals - LOVE this carrier! While not for air transport, for vehicle or motor home, it's perfect! AND when not in use, as it's a "pop up" carrier... it compacts down into a small travel bag - with everything inside it even! Looks even better than the photos shown, thus I didnt feel the need to post any of my own. 3 sides open up (just roll up and secure with the attached Velcro) so there is plenty of air flow, large spacious interior that will accommodate two smaller pets - tho designed for cats, two small cat sized dogs would also fit. I also have this sitting open when not in use traveling, to provide a cozy "cave" for my kitty. Plus as we are getting ready to travel a lot, I want the cat to get use to being inside the space. Again, the small dogs we have in the household tend to use it more than the cat does - so deff small dog approved! Come with everything you need to vehicle travel with your cat.. including a portable litter box! If you have one cat, the litter box could actually fit inside the crate, for two cats, the litter box will easily fit in the floorboard of the back seat of your vehicle. Of course, being portable, means that where ever you stop to stay, you have the necessary litter box! When not in use, it folds up and goes right back in the travel bag! If you camp a lot like we do, it's also a nice way to bring kitty along and let them hang outside with you and remain safe and obviously, not wander off... Now, on a more negative side (for some maybe, tho not myself) if you are putting this in the back seat of a car, it will probably take up the majority of the back seat (width and depth) - but your pet will still ride easily in it once you get it inside. For me, this is not the type of carrier that I would put the pet inside, and then carry out to the vehicle/location etc.. I would place the carrier and then hold the cat/carry the cat TO the carrier and put inside. Tho I've not tried putting the cat inside and carrying... it is quite long and you'd need a decent armspan to hold the two top handles and carry.. would be unwieldy I feel. It fit perfect in the back seat, and they both had plenty of room inside. I have since started using it for transporting foster kittens to and from the humane society and it is a great size (sometimes needs to accommodate 5+ kittens). We constantly get asked at the humane society where we purchased the carrier from. Pros: Great size Easy to clean - kittens have had accidents and it is an easy material to wipe up Comes with a toy wand - My cats and foster kittens absolutely love this toy! After 3 years I am finally having to buy the first replacement feathers for this wand The interior floor mat is reversible (one side is soft cloth, the other is the easily wipeable material), can be washed in the washing machine, and can be used outside of the carrier Durability - I have had this carrier for 3 years now, and it is still in great shape Folds up - It conveniently folds up flat for easy storage Side flaps - It is so nice to have side flaps built in on the carrier. With a hard carrier, oftentimes I have to place a blanket over top to reduce a cat's anxiety, however with the built in flaps I can put them down or roll them up depending on the cat who is using it at the time and I don't have to bring a towel along The cats love playing in and around the carrier when I have it set up Because the carrier is soft sided, I can fit it in tighter spaces easier by bending the top down or a side in, etc. Makes it easy to load into the car. Cons The carrier doesn't always stay standing up, sometimes it tilts to the side so you may have to lean it against a wall. The wand comes in 2 pieces and the pieces easily come apart when using the wand The floor of the carrier is not very sturdy, so the cats often sink to the middle when I am carrying the carrier, especially when there are multiple cats.
