## Description

Zoeller Waste-Mate 267 Sewage Pump, 1/2 HP | Heavy-Duty Submersible Sewage, Effluent or Dewatering Pump - Power Water Pumps - desertcart.com

Review: Replacement - Perfect replacement for my shorted out pump.
Review: Use as Sump Pump - Zoeller 267 -0002 sewage pump is an excellent powerful pump. It discharges water much faster than standard sump pumps which is important for me during severe New Jersey storms, hurricanes and snow melt with heavy rain . Eg., Floyd, Irene, Sandy, Ida etc. This is a replacement for a 28 year old zoeller 267 sewage pump installed after my builder’s sump pump burned out during a basement flood which could have been caused by something getting caught in its blades as water receded back into the sump pit. My lawyer referred me to a person specializing in basement water repairs who advised me to request the builder replace the sump pump with a zoeller 267 sewage pump with a 2 inch discharge. It should handle anything passing through its blades. My builder changed the PVC piping to 2 inches from the standard 1 1/2 inch to match the Zoeller discharge outlet. I recently purchased this Zoeller 267 -0002 model because the number 0002 means it does not have its own automated switch. My original zoeller pump switch failed after about 7 years as do all sump pump switches seem to. I have a back up 1/2 hp sump pump in a separate pit whose switch also failed. Since I use separare sump pump float switches to plug in my pumps I did not need a switch built into my new zoeller pump. My pumps during normal rainy periods will cycle on and off for days and weeks. The zoeller pump discharges water much quicker than the 1/2 hp backup sump pump. Usually the sump pit inlets under my basement floor do not fill the sump pits as fast as the pumps eject the water. However during severe storms the water levels have rose beyond two 4 inch inlets near the top of my zoeller sump pit at which point my old zoeller pump and backup pump run continuously as the water enters the two pits as fast as each pump could eject the water from there respective pits. I also have a third pump with a flexible hose I run out my basement window. I used it two or three times over the last 28 years. I’ve had my new pump for about a month and as expected it has cycled on and off continuously for most of the time. Currently the water table is below the bottom of the on position and it may dry out with a stretch of dry weather. If my new Zoeller pump has the same long service life as my old Zoeller pump I’ll be very happy. I should have replaced my 28 year old Zoeller pump a year ago when I started seeing an oil slick on the sump pit water. This may have caused it to run hot. During cycling times it was fine. But this past January during severe rains and snow melt i believe it’s heat protection sensor was shutting it down during continuous running until it cooled off.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: I currently have a Model 53 which keeps on dying every 3-5 years. Can I replace it with this one (although the flow is more than 2x)?**
A: Theres a ton of variables here. The reason it may be burning up is because it is under/oversized pump for the application, and/or the float switch is not working properly. To answer your question you'll need to study up on how to properly size a pump. This depends on many factors including the cycle timing, how many feet of head it's discharging, the size of the discharge pipe, and amp draw.

**Q: How can you mount a float switch to this unit?**
A: Very easy to do, use a hose clamp on the discharge pipe.

**Q: What is cord length?**
A: It’s around like 6 feet

**Q: Brand new pump, I have to shake the discharge pipe to get it to start pumping. Is that normal for a brand new pump? On a 20amp circut.**
A: Did you position the pump correctly? Sounds like the switch that turns the pump on automatically maybe binding against something and can't float freely.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Update: Replacement Failed After Only 15 Months
*by B***N on December 26, 2024*

Update 2/26, after15 months in service. This morning the sewage sump level alarm was screaming and the sump level was definitely high. I used a separate utility pump to empty the sump, and removed the Zoeller 267 pump after only 15 months in service. At this point, three months out of warranty, I'll be looking at other options. Original 12/24 review: I love replacing sewage pumps. OK, -not-. But if you have one, you know that replacement is inevitable. My great uncle, Edsel Murphy, predicts that failure is most likely on a holiday weekend, sucky weather conditions, and getting the replacement will of course take many days or even weeks. We beat the odds this time. These pumps have a useful-life history of about ten years per some online reviews. Ours made it to almost 12. The great news for us is that the pump was shipped across the country and arrived on my doorstep the morning of the second day from ordering it. About 40 hours from click to doorbell. The week before Christmas. Competing with all the holiday shipments. !Wow! The box was more than a bit beat up when the pump arrived, but it's a cast steel bulldog and nothing inside the box was damaged. By the time it arrived I'd pumped out the sump and sanitized it, so swapping the new one in was pretty simple. It's an exact replacement for the one installed a dozen years ago, so it took no additional plumbing/piping modifications. Electrical the same, where I got to connect the wiring exactly the same way the old one was connected. I did a water test to verify function and put the lid back on the sump, hopefully for another dozen years. My wife suggests that we mark a calendar for about ten years from now, a tickler to buy another pump, and replace it at our own convenience, and nowhere close to the whim and schedule of dear great-uncle Ed. ------- The bottom line-- This is an extremely robust pump, especially compared with some of the pieces carried at the local big-box stores. It's serviceable to a certain extent, but the service kit is about a third of the cost of the new replacement pump, and of course time is of the, um, essence when one of these poops out. So an easy choice -- just get the new one. The costs of this particular pump seems pretty consistent across several online vendors. Getting it via Amazon worked out quite well on cost, plus free shipping. The fabulous fast service and delivery effort from the vendor really minimized the inconvenience, especially when I consider the timing with the holidays. Hats off to all the folks who made that extra effort, thank you!
