Most people slip them on after wearing shoes, after walking on floors briefly in their bare or stocking feet, and after showers so they are a breeding ground for germs for most. I have a pair of good quality slippers that I use for stepping out of the shower that I wash regularly. I usually purchase inexpensive slippers like they have in hotels to wear around the house and I toss them every few months to avoid bacteria build-up. They're your feet folks.
